We are a small family-owned private kennel. Our names are Trever and Becky Mitchell, we are high school sweethearts. We have 3 children; Madison, Chloe, and Elijah. They are the light of our life! Our day-to-day jobs include a full-time Kindergarten teacher at a local school, and a craftsman in the Masonry trade.
We began breeding Shiba Inus in 2017. We adopted our first Shiba, a mini Shiba named Jade, from Becky's mother, Marcia Mayo, who owns Cedar Ridge Shibas, a small successful kennel that raises only Shibas. Our kids wanted a puppy and Grandma obliged. Jade was a wonderful blessing to our family. Jade never met stranger, she loved everyone. She had a very playful character that always made us laugh! She had boundless energy and would jump, bounce, and leap everywhere she went. She would purposefully choose paths that required her to jump, leap, or bounce; sometimes off our porch, up and down our steps, over our cat or over Jedi.
We adopted Jedi, a mini male, a few months after getting Jade so she would have a playmate. Jedi is and always has been our sweet, loving, and mellow boy. He has a very gentle character and has been a wonderful addition to the family. This is how we got our start in breeding Shibas. Unfortunately, Jade is no longer with us, and we certainly miss her bouncy loving character. We still have Jedi and consider ourselves very blessed because he is such a good boy. Early on, Jedi made a special connection with our daughter Chloe, who was very young at the time, and that bond still exists today.
All of our dogs are members of the family. We love the Shiba breed and are dedicated to continuing to improve upon our role as a breeder and pet owner. We are a hobby breeder...not a back yard breeder. We keep our operation small by choice, and we take what we do seriously. Our kennel is heated and cooled with plenty of room inside and outside of each enclosure. They can go in and out as they please. We also have a one acre fenced in area that they use every day to run, play, relax, and do whatever they want. Chasing squirrels up a tree is a favorite past time as well as checking out the occasional turtle that wonders into their domain. The Shiba breed is incredibly smart and needs to be socialized daily, beginning at a very early age. As such, our whole family is involved in raising the Shibas as you will see many of our pictures .
